DATA EDITING FEATURES - AUTOMATED RUN ALIGNMENT

This screen shows a common problem in track testing – six geometry runs from a three year period, misaligned on location by up to 1/10th of a mile. The reason for the misalignment is human error in manual milepost recording by the geometry car operator.

Rangecam Office System includes several tools for data alignment:

• automatic alignment on geometry data

• automatic alignment on GPS

• manual alignment

Here, the automated geometry alignment tool is previewing how it will shift one run to align to six runs aligned previously.

And here is the final result. All seven runs are aligned to within two feet.

Accurate data alignment reveals changes over time. In the aligned image it is easy to spot where the crosslevel has been fixed. Notice the gauge widening trend in the 5.5 degree curve at 212.6.
