FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW TRACK ANALYSIS SOFTWARE FROM IMI
Vancouver, BC, August 28, 2003
Industrial Metrics Inc. announces the release of two new software products: Track Analyst and Track View, for analysis and viewing of railroad track condition data. The software integrates track geometry, GRMS, rail wear, and ultrasonic test data to provide engineers with a complete picture of track conditions. Changes over time are made visible. Trend analysis forecasts rail replacement and maintenance requirements.
The new offerings are a significant advance over older products in IMI's Rangecam software line, Rail Wear Analyst, Rail View Plus, and RPR Grinding System, which focus mainly on rail wear and rail grinding. IMI software has been in use since 1992 by railroad, transit and service company customers including CN, Amtrak, BC Rail, Hungarian State Railway, Boston's MBTA, Atlanta's MARTA, Baltimore's MTA, Advanced Rail Management, and the Holland Company.
Multiple exception threshold levels can be defined for different track classes. Strip charts are optionally displayed in colours coded to exception levels, such as red for a safety-level exception, yellow for warning level, green for a non-exception. Track Analyst allows the user to edit threshold tables, entering FRA, Canadian or custom exception levels. Both products also contain query functions that drive a variety of reports and displays.
Advanced features in Track Analyst include:
- rail wear replacement forecasting based on wear trend analysis
- 'safe' track class calculation from geometry data and the threshold table
- a graphical tie replacement planning tool
- curve performance analysis, with drill-down to view supporting data, and a query tool for determining causes of high and low wear rates
"We did wear trend analysis in 1998 before anyone else," says Gordon Cornwall, president of Industrial Metrics. "Our latest software applies strong analysis tools and a user-friendly graphical approach to comprehensive track data reporting with geometry, GRMS, rail wear, profile, and ultrasonic. We keep trying to raise the bar."
